Project 202 | Primary Bedroom
See the before, design process and finished primary bedroom for Project 202, a welcoming apartment prepared for short-term rental guests.
This short-term rental apartment was love at first sight. Since I toured the spaces, I felt the vibe and intention that the client wanted to achieve.
This apartment tower is located in Los Cacicazgos, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and is in the final stage of construction. The apartment has a kitchen, living room, laundry area, WALKING-CLOSET, two bathrooms, jacuzzi, balcony and one bedroom.
In this post I will show you the work we do in the room.
Before intervening in these spaces, the client already had a well-defined style (industrial-modern), so he had already covered some walls with microcement and purchased several of the furniture. Based on this and the client’s personality, we begin to create the design proposal.
In this particular project, I challenged us to work with dark tones and create a truly unique environment. This forced us to step out of our comfort zone and think outside the box to achieve the vision our client had in mind.
To give it that contemporary, masculine and interesting touch, we placed wallpaper on a part of the wall, breaking up the cement texture a bit and turning this section into one of the focal points of the space. We also decided, at the last minute, to cover the niche with microcement to give it more character and unify it with the rest.
From the beginning, I knew we had to create an interesting and eye-catching composition on this wall, since it is the first thing you see when entering the room. In addition, it presents the perfect opportunity to attract the attention of potential clients interested in renting the apartment. After exploring several ideas, we decided to make these hanging shelves with chains ourselves, from scratch.

It took us about three days to make and install the shelves. I love that rough touch they give to the space, characteristic of the industrial style.
We paint the chains last. The ideal would have been to paint them before installing the wood, but we had doubts about the adhesion of the paint due to the movement of the chains. After doing extensive research, we found the best option: Tropical Industrial Enamel Paint. I loved this paint because it dries quickly and adheres perfectly to the metal.
