Halloween Christmas Tree Decor: Spooky and Cute Ideas
Transform a Christmas tree for Halloween with approachable DIY ghosts, pumpkins and handmade details that feel playful, spooky and easy to personalize.
This is my first time decorating for Halloween at home, thanks to the influences of one of my clients and to surprise my husband, since he loves this season. I decided to add the decoration to the Christmas tree since we have had it out all year.
The idea I had in mind was to create a decoration that looked cute, but at the same time with the representative elements of Halloween (cute, but scary at the same time, hahaha), and this was the result.

As this type of decoration lasts such a short time, I decided not to go crazy buying things and work with what I already had at home, in addition to making some decorations myself.
I went to the Dollar Tree and found some essential elements, like the spider web, which is one of the touches that cannot be missing in Halloween decoration, these little fur pumpkins and of course, a skeleton.
I also added dried branches that I already had to give it a spookier look and some artificial flowers.

To complete the look I created ghosts with gauze and a lighted ornament for the top of the tree. Here are the steps on how I did them. Here you can also see the entire process from Instagram.

1- GAZA
2- FISHING LINE
3- COTTON
4- GLUE
5- BLACK FELT

Cut two pieces of gauze and place them on the cotton.

Make the eyes with felt. Cut and paste them.

To hang it on the tree, I used a needle with the fishing line. I tied a knot at the end of the thread and passed it through the inside, where the cotton is. The needle should come out of the ghost’s head. Once the thread was passed, I tied another knot so I could hang it.
PUMPKIN TOPPERA
1- PUMPKIN BASKET
2- BLACK AND WHITE AEROSOL PAINT MATTE
3- WIRELESS LIGHT
I used the typical candy basket for Halloween. And to make it go more with the tones of the decoration, I made some modifications.
I cut the black parts with a knifes face.

I painted the entire basket first white and then black. I placed a paper to cover the gaps to apply the black color. The interior must remain white so that the light can reflect.

After I dried, I introduced the wireless light. This comes with a control where you can manipulate it as you want.

And that’s it! You just need to hang it on the tree. I used the same branches of the tree to support it.

Looks super cute!
